They are universal with a hollow shank and they are very sharp. The thing is if you are going to be doing a lot of embroidery you will destroy your machine and you will have a lot of needles to change. I would recommend getting a good quality machine produce because you will ruin your machine otherwise. With the right needles you do not have to worry about your hoop ripping because the needle can make one clean hole through it. Just my opinion.
